Old Viennese Teapot
The border of green leaves in two shades is reminiscent of an evergreen myrtle wreath. A service with these myrtle leaves, framed by golden ribbons, was ordered around 1790 by Joseph Count Dietrichstein for his Brno palace. In the following two decades, numerous variations of the leaf décor were created; after all, the myrtle was an attribute of Venus and just right for the Romantic era, in which love and friendship were among the highest ideals. The "Schubert" shape, created in 1923, with its classical silhouettes and discreet ornamental details, is still a classic of Viennese porcelain today.
