Lobmeyr's magnificent crystal collections are the culmination of over two centuries and six generations of glassmaking expertise. Founded in Vienna's Weihburggasse by Josef Lobmeyr senior, the company immediately gained notoriety as the official supplier to the Imperial Court. With the opening of the Suez Canal, oriental ornamentation became increasingly popular in the 1870s in Europe.
